What are you going to build?:

The ENS protocol has consistently faced the challenge of high gas costs on L1 Ethereum. To address this, ENS Labs has expressed a strong commitment to integrating Optimism as one of the initial Layer 2 solutions. Presently, we have developed a subname rental solution specifically designed for L1 Ethereum, leveraging the capabilities of the recently deployed NameWrapper smart contract—an integral component of the ENS protocol. Our primary objective is to replicate this solution on Optimism, resulting in a significant reduction in costs associated with registering, renewing, and updating ENS name records. We aim to expand the functionality of ENS, an already highly successful application on L1 Ethereum. Notably, ENS has emerged as the de facto identity layer and has been integrated into popular apps like Farcaster, a Web3 social media platform.
