University Route Web3 was an in-person educational activation organized by H.E.R. DAO Mexico on December 4th at TecNM – Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
The event was designed for Computer Systems Engineering students, with the objective of promoting practical Web3 adoption within university communities and introducing students to blockchain fundamentals, professional opportunities, and real-world applications powered by Scroll.
The meetup gathered 132 in-person attendees and combined educational sessions, executive use cases, and a hands-on on-chain activation. As part of the Scroll Open Economy and Open Campus initiatives, students were also invited to explore Scroll resources through a dedicated Open Campus QR code, which was scanned by 63 participants during the event.
A core component of the activation was a practical on-chain experience using ChatterPay, allowing participants to execute real blockchain transactions and directly interact with the Scroll ecosystem.
Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of Web3 technologies within university communities by providing students with practical, hands-on experiences that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world blockchain applications.
Through initiatives like University Route Web3, we aim to introduce future engineers and developers to scalable Layer 2 solutions such as Scroll, highlighting their professional value, real use cases, and accessibility. By combining education, on-chain activations, and direct interaction with Web3 tools, we empower students to become active participants in the decentralized ecosystem from the early stages of
In many public universities across Mexico, especially within technical and engineering programs, there is a significant gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with Web3 technologies.
Despite the growing demand for blockchain, Layer 2 solutions, and decentralized applications in the professional market, most students have little to no prior exposure to wallets, on-chain transactions, or Web3 tools.
Additionally, Layer 2 ecosystems such as Scroll often lack direct visibility and adoption within academic environments, limiting early engagement from future developers, builders, and technically oriented users.
University Route Web3 addressed this challenge through a structured educational and practical activation, tailored specifically to university students:
An introductory session on Web3 and blockchain fundamentals, emphasizing professional value, career paths, and real-world business applications.
A presentation on Executive Use Cases and Layer 2 Solutions, highlighting Scroll for its scalability, low transaction costs, and speed, and demonstrating how Layer 2 solutions can be integrated into startups and existing systems.
A verifiable on-chain practical activation, where participants completed real transactions (swap and social send) using ChatterPay, supported by a USD 2 incentive to reduce friction and encourage participation.
Promotion of the Scroll Open Campus, resulting in 63 QR code scans from students interested in continuing their learning journey within the Scroll ecosystem.
Impact results:
Through this approach, the event successfully lowered the entry barrier to Web3, generated measurable on-chain adoption, and positioned Scroll as an accessible and developer-friendly Layer 2 solution for the next generation of builders in Mexico.
