Nature Defenders has a mission to acquire the at risk land and implement a regenerative agriculture + ecotourism model that can sustain it's conservation over the long run. Closer will deploy digital tooling and build relationships to support this.
Nature Defenders is a non profit representing the interest of a local clan in the Philippines. This clan has a particular interest in protecting a 100ha sacred forest being put on sale by another clan - thus being at risk of deforestation since other buyers are logging companies.
Closer has been pioneering a model for web3 access and governance of land with its prototype project in Portugal called Traditional Dream Factory. Through this work, it will deploy a similar solution a provide digital infrastructure directly to indigenous leaders that serve the purpose of conservation.
More specifically, this clan is seeking 100k USD funding to acquire this land and develop and project that can fit under the Closer framework. Closer will support in building the relationships and tooling that can empower the non-profit to succeed in it's mission.
