We are weaving a territorial process of regeneration among many local initiatives. This includes reforestation, watershed restoration, education of children and youth, and coordination among local producers to create regenerative economic models.

The Barichara Regeneration Fund was created in 2021 and has supported the weaving of reforestation efforts throughout the territory. We established a territorial foundation called Fundación Barichara Regenerativa that supports the convening, mapping, and mobilization of resources across our 500,000 hectare territory.

Barichara has a unique ecosystem called the High Andes Tropical Dry Forest -- with 8 out of 10 species that exist nowhere else on Earth. After 80 years of industrial agriculture, nearly all of this native ecology (estimates are between 95 and 98%) has been destroyed. The territory is now on its way to becoming a desert.

We are reversing this trajectory with large-scale landscape restoration and a transition pathway toward a regenerative economy at the territorial scale. Support that comes through this funding round will go to reforestation, watershed restoration, and regenerative education with children.
