The Current Tide
Despite being the very lifeblood of our planet, rivers remain overshadowed in the global conservation dialogue. Rich in biodiversity and crucial to life, these waterways are now under an unprecedented threat. The Balkans, the haven of Europe's last wild rivers, teeter on the edge due to an aggressive push for hydropower development, paradoxically masked under the banner of 'green energy'.
Yet, amidst this crisis, rivers lack a cohesive global voice. While rainforests and oceans garner widespread attention, rivers remain eerily silent, with only a handful, like Patagonia Foundation and RiverWatch, championing their cause.

The Source
At the innovative pop-up city, Zuzalu, founded by tech visionary Vitalik Buterin, two passionate advocates for nature's rights, Jasmine and Marijana, found their paths converging. They connected over a shared vision: how could technology be harnessed to advocate for nature's rights, especially the preservation of Europe's last wild rivers?
As serendipity would have it, at that same gathering in Zuzalu, they met Danilo. A trailblazer in sensor technology, he had been tirelessly working on refining real-time data sensors. Recognizing the potential for synergy, the trio teamed up. With Danilo's expertise and a strategic partnership with Retune, they birthed an advanced beta version of SENTIENT's AI-chat. This chat could not only interact but also process live river data, providing an intimate, immediate connection to these precious ecosystems.
With the blueprint in hand and a technology capable of actualizing their vision, Jasmine, Marijana, embarked on a mission to the Balkans. Engaging with a gathering of almost hundred international scientists and activists on the ground, they delved deep into understanding the nuances of river ecosystems and how SENTIENT could serve as a beacon for activists, researchers, and nature lovers alike.
Their journey, initiated by a fortuitous meeting at Zuzalu, now seeks to create ripples of change not just for the rivers of Europe but for threatened waterways worldwide.
