ReFi Cape Town: Empowering Youth for a Regenerative Future

ReFi Cape Town is a collaborative initiative formed by Younglings, ixo, and RLabs, aimed at nurturing community conversations around the tokenized impacts economy. Our mission is to empower young South Africans to support initiatives that tackle Cape Town’s most pressing challenges, including socioeconomic inequality, youth unemployment, and limited access to essential resources such as energy, water, sanitation, housing, and education.

We invite you to contribute to our journey of youth-led education for regeneration. Our initiatives include:

Monthly Community Events: Engaging gatherings featuring expert speakers on ReFi, Web3, and urban challenges, connecting young people from RLabs, Younglings, and YOMA with key stakeholders like the City of Cape Town and various educational institutions.

Workshops: Educational sessions focused on integrating blockchain technology into local projects, empowering participants with the skills to innovate and contribute.

Biannual Hackathons: Events focused on upskilling local software developers to create user-friendly, mobile-first decentralized applications (dApps) that address specific community challenges, in collaboration with technical support platforms.

Community Service Activities: We will organize events such as tree planting, park clean-ups, and recycling initiatives, actively engaging with different communities to inspire and serve.
Digital Impacts Marketplace: Utilizing the ixo software stack, we will develop a marketplace to support high-impact social projects through digital assets for impact measurement, verification, and fundraising.

Our mission is to create a sustainable and inclusive future for Cape Town by empowering young South Africans through education and collaboration. We invite community members and stakeholders to join us in this journey, contributing to youth-led initiatives that promote regeneration and transformative outcomes in our city.

Cape Town faces significant challenges, including socioeconomic inequality, youth unemployment, and limited access to essential resources such as energy, water, sanitation, housing, and education. These issues hinder the potential of young South Africans and the broader community, creating barriers to a sustainable future.

ReFi Cape Town, established by Younglings, ixo, and RLabs, aims to empower youth to drive initiatives that address these challenges through a community-focused approach. We will foster a regenerative impact economy by building a vibrant community of innovators, hosting monthly events, organizing biannual hackathons, and developing a Digital Impacts Marketplace for effective measurement and verification of social impact.
