Rural culture in Brazil nowadays is a result of the destruction of indigenous secular food forests, which were replaced by the colonizers' monocultures of exotic species - such as cattle - and more recently affected by 100 years of rural exodus.
We believe that regeneration is a socio-ecological subject, related to the culture of being for generations in a place. Inheriting the natural legacy from past generations and having responsibilities for improving and passing this wealth to the next generations.
In the 90s the movement of Syntropic Farming brought back the possibility of cultivating food forests and creating natural inheritance, but it is still very much an individual effort oriented by market incentives, and not a collective effort mediated by community incentives.
Community cares for the long term, for education, capacity building, for public goods, celebrations, experiences and friendships. Markets care about short term profits whatever it takes.
Nowadays, the lack of a community scafold has brought failure to many young families that tried to leave the city and start a rural life, and we often see couples breaking up for not being able to sustain their families with products sales, specially if they live in a small town far from any large urban center. We want to show rural families that they will have support to build intergenerational commons.
π Our Solution
AgroforestDAO's purpose is to revive Community Agriculture values in the 21st century, using Blockchain for cosmolocal recognition and support. Redemption Hill is our MVP, planted by web3 Regens that came in person to execute under the first rains of Spring.
At the Hill aim at creating community agriculture of the 21st century, where deprived rural people can have the support from the global people to co-steward agroforestry commons. Having volunteers from SΓ£o Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and overseas to plant the system was really significant for the local team, that understood that they are doing something really special there.

Our research questions are:
1- Can we contribute to the education of the web3 Regen Community by sharing our context and seasonal updates?
2- Can local teams be supported by the global community to steward the first years of a new food forest, so to avoid falling in the market trap?
3- Can we use community-issued certificates to build reputation and incentives systems among stewards and volunteers in our network?
4- Can we multiply this model in other places?
