Punk Domains is a Web3 Social names protocol.
It allows any DAO or web3 community to issue Web3 Social usernames. These names can then be used in decentralized social networks or chats as usernames and identity for community members.
For example, the Songbird web3 community has the .sgb name extension via the Punk Domains protocol. These .sgb names are then used as usernames and profiles on SGB Chat, the first decentralized social network on Songbird: https://sgb.chat/.
What sets Punk Domains apart from other protocols like ENS or UD is that it can issue multiple domain extensions and allows for various types of names (single-purchase domains, renewable domains, soulbound domains, etc.). It has a modular architecture that can cover any use case.
Any DAO or web3 community can get their own name extension via the Punk Domains protocol. PoolTogether (.pool), Smol Brains NFT community (.smol), KlimaDAO (.klima), Giveth (.giveth), and many others have already gotten their own respective domain extensions via Punk Domains.
The Punk Domains protocol is completely open source (all code is on GitHub) and permissionless. Once you own your domain name, no one can take it away from you.
To easily integrate and use punk domains, we are developing Iggy, a Web3 Social template where punk domains are used as usernames and profiles. This template makes it easy for web3 communities to set up decentralized chats...
