"Public Optimism" is a community-driven initiative (led by ForkinWisdom) dedicated to economically empowering women in off-grid rural areas through solar-powered business ventures. Our mission is to educate, engage, and support women—especially in Sub-Saharan Africa—in adopting solar technologies and productive appliances to enhance livelihoods, health, resilience, and agency. By fostering a sustainable community economy, we aim to generate income opportunities, improve family well-being, and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.

How It Works:

We will work with community leaders in off-grid rural areas and help them organize local contests and challenges that accelerate the adoption of solar technologies and productive appliances to enhance livelihoods, health, resilience, and agency.

Points will be offered as bounties for several challenges, many of which we develop collaboratively with our community members. Everything will be always accessible through the community dashboard.

As community members complete tasks, they accumulate points and see their “Base/ENS Names” rise on the leaderboard. At the end of each contest, prizes in USDC are sent directly to their wallets. In our initial test we learned that using a stablecoin builds trust and clarity, removing entry barriers and inviting more people to join.

The community pool and prizes will be managed in a “garden.fund”. And all the points and voting systems will be tracked on-chain using our own smart contract. All of these demonstrate to non-Web3 users the benefits of a transparent and incorruptible system.

In our initial test within a Bogotá neighborhood, an impressive 90% of participants successfully generated their wallets and created their BaseNames. We discovered that BaseNames and ENS names eliminate the confusion of traditional wallet addresses, allowing everyone to build trust and connections through their on-chain identity.
