Padi Protocol is a mobile-first, decentralized evidence-collection tool combating police brutality in Nigeria. We use the Celo L2 to instantly and immutably timestamp incident evidence (text/media) via an app. Our goal is to onboard 15,000 new users and generate 50,000+ daily Celo transactions from evidence logs, directly fulfilling the Grow Daily Txs Intent with a high-impact, real-world utility application. We also connect citizens to token-incentivized lawyers, driving local cUSD utility.
Social Impact: To drastically reduce the impunity of state actors by providing citizens with a secure, tamper-proof tool for logging and sharing evidence of human rights violations (e.g., police brutality). This directly addresses a critical barrier to universal prosperity—the rule of law and personal safety.
Celo Alignment: To leverage Celo's mobile-first design, ultra-low transaction costs, and stablecoin (cUSD/cEUR) utility to deliver a public good that is accessible to anyone with a basic phone (via USSD) and financially sustainable for both users and service providers (lawyers).
Ecosystem Growth: To drive massive real-world adoption on Celo by generating high-frequency, real-world utility transactions (evidence logs) and stimulating a non-speculative, local economy powered by cUSD lawyer incentives, thereby directly achieving the "Grow Daily Txs" and "Grow TVL/Utility" Season 1 intents.
In short: Padi Protocol is building a decentralized justice system on Celo to enhance safety and accountability, turning social impact into measurable on-chain activity.
Crux of Injustice: The primary obstacle to justice is the systematic erasure of evidence. Files vanish, videos are dismissed, and witness testimony disappears, allowing perpetrators to act with impunity and burying the truth.
Padi Protocol is a two-sided marketplace built on Celo:
Citizen Tool: A mobile app/USSD interface for citizens to report incidents and upload evidence. Each evidence file's metadata (a tamper-proof hash) is instantly and securely recorded as an immutable transaction on the Celo blockchain.
Legal Marketplace: Connects verified citizens to token-incentivized lawyers. Lawyers are rewarded in cUSD/cEUR for successful case resolution, creating a local, non-speculative use case for Celo stablecoins (addressing Grow TVL utility).
Why Celo? Celo's mobile-first architecture, ultra-low gas fees ($0.001 per transaction), and fast block times are non-negotiable for a high-frequency, mass-market utility in an emerging region like Nigeria. The entire process of recording and retrieving evidence must be seamless and nearly free for the user, which Celo enables perfectly.
