The Moos project has been working with Dark Matter Labs and Inverter Network to explore the potential use of a modular money framework for urban and rural land projects.
The first step was to set up an instance of Closer, ‘the operating system for regenerative communities’, a platform for managing tokenised spaces which was also used by aligned project Traditional Dream Factory in Portugal. You can see this progress on our Website)
We now wish to explore the route to establishing a flow of modular smart contracts with Inverter as a test of the ‘Free Protocol’ a suite of smart contracts for self-sovereign entities. This initial grant period covers experimenting with the Inverter SDK and to understand the parameters for integrating contracts into the Moos website.
Moos seeks to collaborate with Inverter Network to research a modular money framework for community currencies and value-sharing powered by bonding curves. It is envisioned that a modular system should be openly available to other projects aiming to raise funding with a fee-distribution structure built in to share value with those that helped make it while allowing the freeing ‘actant’ (in this case initially based on the Canopy building in Moos Space) to sequentially buy its own shares from initial investors. Although this project starts with the concept of a self-owning house, the modules are being designed in such a way that they are be adaptable to other ‘Free-’ entities such as rivers, lakes, mountains, forests and lands as well as human-made objects such as cameras, energy metres or door locks. You can read more on the blog of our research partner Dark Matter Labs.
The first demonstration of the ‘Free Protocol’ is Moos Canopy (Berlin), an innovative set of living spaces, consisting of spaces for events, work and co-living. As the house moves towards being a self-sovereign entity entangled in its environment, the project is driven by principles of self-regulation, automation, sustainability, and steward participation.

We are keen to learn and progress from the OASA and Traditional Dream Factory teams, who we see as pioneers in the space. In 2023 TDF launched a Token Contract (utility token), a Sales Contract (simple bonding curve), and a Booking Contract (staking $TDF as part of its utility).
We would look to research conversion of the TDF smart contracts into the Inverter Network flows in order to benefit from a modular protocol approach to upgrading and enhancing within civic infrastructure projects and reducing the burden on new projects to take on contract design and auditing. This will include exploring the incorporation of a Commons Market Maker into the Moos approach as well as other Inverter Modules.
