The LUSOBE Community Credit Guarantee Fund is an experiential learning and research initiative designed by Resilient Community Waqfs (RCW) to educate Lukenya University students on responsible credit management through practical experience using blockchain technology.
In partnership with Lukenya University's School of Business and Economics (LUSOBE), and Grassroots Economics Foundation (GEF), this project introduces an innovative, interest-free student loan system leveraging commitment pooling via Sarafu.Network on the Celo blockchain. The system utilises blockchain-based commitment vouchers fully backed by cUSD guarantee funds in dedicated commitment pools, allowing students, staff, merchants, and university administrators to confidently engage in short-term, interest-free transactions.
LUSOBE’s core mission is to create a transparent, open-source, and scalable blockchain-based financial model on the Celo network, tailored specifically for educational and humanitarian applications, with strong potential for replication across various community and institutional contexts.
