Inkoko is a dual-token decentralized payment ecosystem built on the Celo blockchain. It consists of KOKO-PAY, an ERC20 token optimized for high-velocity, gasless daily transactions using EIP-3009 , and KOKO, a deflationary utility token with a dynamic burn mechanism designed to act as a store of value. The project includes a dedicated mobile application to bridge the gap between complex blockchain infrastructure and everyday commerce in emerging markets.
Our mission is to empower the unbanked and underbanked populations of Burundi and Africa by providing a mobile-first, gasless, and deflationary payment infrastructure that makes digital finance as simple and accessible as cash.
In many emerging markets, particularly in Burundi, traditional financial systems are plagued by high transaction fees (3-7%), slow processing times, and limited access to global capital. While existing cryptocurrencies offer a solution, they introduce new barriers:
Gas Fee Friction: Users often cannot perform transactions because they lack the native network token (like CELO) to pay for gas.
Volatility and Inflation: Local fiat currencies lose value rapidly, and standard tokens lack built-in mechanisms to reward long-term holders or manage supply effectively.
Complex UX: Traditional wallet interactions are too technical for non-crypto native merchants and customers.
Inkoko solves these challenges through a specialized dual-token architecture:
Gasless Experience: By implementing transferWithAuthorization (EIP-3009) in the KOKO-PAY contract, users can send payments without owning any gas tokens, as the fees can be covered by a relay.
Deflationary Incentives: The KOKO token automatically burns a percentage of every transfer (capped at 10%), creating a deflationary pressure that rewards the ecosystem as it grows.
Security: Built on industry-standard OpenZeppelin libraries with roles-based access control and emergency pause features.
Our business model is based on a low-cost, high-volume merchant gateway service. While peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers remain free to drive mass adoption, we implement a 0.5% to 1% service fee for commercial transactions processed via our merchant POS interface. Additional revenue is generated through B2B API access for "gasless" payment infrastructure and strategic liquidity management in Celo-based decentralized exchanges.
