Guild Guild: Distributing the Means of Guilding on Ethereum

Guild Guild is a coordination hub dedicated to advancing guild-based organization models on Ethereum. Guilds are self-curating registries of contributors working toward shared goals, creating collective bargaining power while preserving individual autonomy. We're a collaborative collective of builders, researchers, and community organizers from various organizations with experience in decentralized governance, public goods funding, and coordination mechanisms.

Why Guilds are Revolutionary

Guilds represent a powerful coordination mechanism that reduces attention costs for both contributors and funders. They create legible group identities that reliably produce high-quality work in specialized domains, allowing members to focus on their craft while providing funders with confidence in where their resources flow.

Building on successful guild models in Ethereum, Guild Guild aims to extend this powerful organizational approach across diverse types of contributor communities. Our goal is to create sustainable funding pathways for public goods groups through collective coordination mechanisms.

Current Priorities (next 6 months)

We're developing resources and infrastructure to enable the formation and operation of guilds across the Ethereum ecosystem:

1. **Knowledge Commons**: A comprehensive repository of guilding best practices, case studies, mechanism designs, and process frameworks (see current progress at https://guildguild.xyz)

2. **Support Builders**: Grant program and user feedback for builders and researchers of tools and frameworks that enhance guild formation, operation, or allocation

3. **Support Organizers**: Direct support for guild formation (technical infrastructure, governance implementation, funding attraction)

Long Term Strategy (6 months +)

Our approach follows three strategic phases:

1. **Knowledge Sharing & Community Building**: Documenting proven patterns from pioneering guilds and creating educational resources

2. **Guild Generation**: Supporting the formation and operation of guilds, and those building modular infrastructure to make guild creation accessible

3. **Nested Coordination**: Supporting "guilds of guilds" that enable strategic coordination while preserving tactical autonomy

Impact and Success

Within 3 months, our knowledge commons will be full of useful information for guilds to self-organize. Guild infrastructure itself will be ready to use, thanks to the builders funded by our grant program. A solid foundation for self-organizing Guilds on ethereum.

Within 6 months, we aim to support the launch of at least five new guilds, with funding streams for at least 100 Ethereum contributors across a variety of contribution sectors.
