Forest is an efficient, lightweight Filecoin full node implemented in Rust that provides a production-ready alternative client for core network infrastructure roles such as bootstrap services, RPC, and snapshot generation. By prioritizing protocol correctness, timely support for mandatory network upgrades, and continuous performance optimization, it lowers hardware and operational costs while strengthening cross-client conformance and reducing client concentration risk. The project also maintains and improves shared protocol components used across the ecosystem to support safer upgrades, better testing, and long-term network resilience.
