ETHealth is a web-based MiniApp on MiniPay that revolutionizes telemedicine for unbanked communities by integrating virtual healthcare services with stablecoin payments (cUSD). Built for Minipay, ETHealth seeks to partner with existing and successfull telemedical companies like BYON8 and Zuri Health to offer a wide range of telemedical services to MiniPay and other CELO-users. During the Hackathon, possible pathways shall be explored as to how existing web-2-based technical solutions like the BYON8-App can be connected to MiniPay. To allow MiniPay users to easily access state-of-the-art telemedical services will increase healthcare inclusivity, affordability and accessibility, reaching MiniPay’s vast user base in Kenya, Nigeria and beyond and should therefor generate a win-win situation for MiniPay, the CELO community in general and the participating telemedical service providers.
ETHealth’s mission is to democratize healthcare access for underserved African communities and emerging markets by combining telemedicine with stablecoin payments on MiniPay. We aim to empower unbanked populations—starting with Kenya, Nigeria and expanding across Sub-Saharan Africa—to consult doctors, order medications, and manage health needs affordably and transparently.
In underserved African communities, access to affordable healthcare remains a critical challenge. Over 60% of Sub-Saharan Africans lack reliable healthcare services due to geographic isolation, high costs, and limited financial infrastructure. Traditional telemedicine solutions often exclude unbanked populations, requiring conventional payment methods that many cannot access. Additionally, fragmented healthcare delivery—split between app-based services for smartphone users and basic SMS options for others—creates inconsistent user experiences, leaving rural populations underserved.
ETHealth aims to connect existing web2-based telemedical services to CELO. For this, ETHealth plans to commission a dApp/MiniApp, Customers log in with MiniPay and register in ETHealth. From within ETHealth dApp, customers access their telemedical partner accounts, unlock exclusive packages for MiniPay users and authorize payments in cUSD or cKES. ETHealth hopes to provide a simple medical AI- chatbot free of charge, a “pay-per-use” remote doctor consultation option as well as different subscription packages ranging from very basic to full coverage.
