Our project is rooted in bioregionalism—a way of organizing and stewarding land, water, and communities based on natural boundaries rather than political ones. We are a Commons Consortium, meaning we collaborate across projects, communities, and local leaders to share governance, align resources, and co-create regenerative systems for long-term well-being.
Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific Zone, from mountain to sea, is a rich ecosystem that has remained largely agricultural and conservation-focused to respect and protect it's globally recognized biodiversity. This region attracts people passionate about permaculture and land restoration, working alongside local communities to support preservation efforts. Our work centers around building a resilient economy through shared governance and resource-sharing, guided by the Boruca Indigenous community and global regenerative practitioners.

Our team includes land stewards, community organizers, and global regenerative experts working together to implement models that blend traditional knowledge with decentralized finance (ReFi). We’ve developed the Eight Stages of Stewardship, providing pathways for people to progress from visitors to land trustees. Events like the Seed Festival, Protopian Convergence and Bliss Burn connect global regenerative leaders with local communities to drive forward our vision.
As we scale our work, we’re building a Bioregional Financing Facility (BFF) to fund land restoration, cultural exchange, and ecological projects. This facility ensures resources flow directly to grassroots leaders regenerating our bioregion, with a focus on transparency and community-led governance.
The Boruca Indigenous people play a crucial role in shaping our bioregional strategy. Their deep ecological knowledge guides our efforts to regenerate the land and protect sacred sites. We are committed to embedding Indigenous wisdom in every aspect of our work, from land restoration to decision-making.

The Diamante Baru Bioregional Consortium unites land stewards, Indigenous leaders, and regenerative practitioners to co-create a resilient, bioregional economy. Through decentralized governance, participatory funding, and trust-based collaboration, we protect biodiversity, cultural heritage, and community well-being. This space fosters coordination, knowledge exchange, and action to safeguard and regenerate the Diamante Bioregion.
Grassroots stewards and Indigenous communities in the Diamante-Baru Bioregion are coordinating powerful ecological and cultural regeneration efforts—but they lack the systems, funding infrastructure, and governance support to scale or sustain their work. Without organized mechanisms for resource flow, transparency, and collaboration, regeneration remains fragmented and vulnerable to extractive forces.
The Diamante-Baru Bioregional Consortium is building decentralized infrastructure for coordinated regeneration—including bioregional asset mapping, participatory governance design, funding transparency tools, and the development of a Bioregional Financing Facility. By equipping communities with decision-making structures, shared priorities, and regenerative funding flows, DBBC creates conditions for long-term ecological health, cultural continuity, and bioregional resilience.
