Farcaster MiniApp “2048” is an onchain version of the classic puzzle game, integrated directly into the Farcaster social ecosystem. The app features a leaderboard stored fully onchain, allowing players to compete transparently and verify their scores through smart contracts. The game already operates with offchain functionality, and Celo integration will enable the first blockchain-backed leaderboard with verifiable results.
Our mission is to bridge casual gaming and onchain transparency within social platforms like Farcaster. Through Celo integration, we aim to demonstrate how blockchain can power fair, accessible, and decentralized game experiences — paving the way for broader adoption of onchain applications in social gaming.
Most casual blockchain games rely on centralized servers for score tracking and competition systems, making them opaque and easily manipulated. Existing Farcaster miniapps also lack seamless onchain interaction, reducing the trust and transparency expected from Web3 applications. As a result, players have limited confidence in score fairness and no true ownership of their gaming progress.
By integrating 2048 with Celo, the project introduces a transparent and verifiable onchain leaderboard that records every score immutably. Smart contracts ensure score validation and fair ranking, while leveraging Celo’s fast and low-cost transactions for an accessible player experience. Future updates will extend support to additional EVM-compatible networks, building a foundation for interoperable Web3 gaming within the Farcaster ecosystem.
The project will initially operate under a grant-based model, using received ecosystem funding to support development and reward top players in seasonal leaderboards. Over time, the app may introduce optional sponsorships or community-driven prize pools to sustain engagement without pay-to-play mechanics.
